E. van Braam Houckgeest, (1) que foi chefe em Cantão da feitoria da Companhia Holandesa da Índia Oriental (terminou em 1799) e conhecia bem Macau por ter aqui vivido muito tempo (c.1758 – 1773), dedicou 100 páginas a esta terra no 2.º volume (2) da sua obra “Voyage de l´Ambassade de la Compagnie des Indes Orientales Hollandaises vers l´Empereur de la Chines dans les annes 1794 et 1795.” (3) (4)
